And so, Gentle Reader, I was in the throes of trying to get together some sort of sensible post on the recent report on the Magdalene laundries, and the Irish government's admission of complicitness (is that even a word? Well it should be!) in a system of institutionalised slavery, in all but name. Then I checked my inbox, and it turns out The Blog Of The Re-Enlightenment posted almost exactly what I wanted to say, just a couple of hours ago. So, please, go read that. I'll just quote one line, by way of emphasis:
