Okay, so I was trying to think of a theme for this week's Friday Night Is Music Night (a suggestion of "cheese" was made a while back but my cheese-pun engine broke and I couldn't think of enough songs to make a post), and Barriejohn dropped this little beauty into the comments:
So the theme this week is laughter. Songs about laughter, containing actual laughter, having the word "laugh" etc as a prominent lyric… you get the drift. It turned out to be a tad harder than I expected; songs about unhappiness seem to be much more common than those about happiness (except for happiness-in-romance). I'd like to think that's 'cause of some deep and meaningful relationship between music and cathartic release and other psychological-sounding reasons, but I actually suspect it's just 'cause songs expressing sadness are easier to write without the lyrics sounding childish or shallow. Ho-hum.
Anyways, please feel free to add your own suggestions in comments.
