When did you last hear a fundy quote Christ?
They'll quote Revelations 'til Hell turns to ice
And Isaiah and Paul, Leviticus too,
But quoting their King? That they never do.
Christ says the world belongs to the meek;
To those who're willing to turn a cheek.
He says pray at home don't use faith to scoff—
But what use piety, if you can't show it off?
Their Christ's just a scapegoat, a handy release.
To responsibility he gives surcease.
They hear his words as "Get out of jail free,
Provided you happen to believe in me."
His death is a gift they're willing to grab
But his life and his morals are boring and drab.
He tells them to think how they should behave.
They'd rather tell others, while boasting they're saved.
When did you last hear a fundy quote Christ,
Except as a shortcut to Paradise?
They'll quote from Romans 'til cows learn to sing;
But when'd you last hear one quote from their King?
