Though they're His words, not ours, and never in doubt,
Somehow a woman's voice makes them less devout.
When we, from the pulpit, His wishes proclaim,
They mean less when uttered by Jane than by James.
The word of God—though always true—
If spoke by a woman, has less value.
So our gobbledegook should be spoken by Man,
For he bullshits much better than Woman ever can.

Is Baby Jebus Crying?

So, after the Biblical blather we've had to put up with over the last few days, how's about some music? Oh, and it's been pissin' down all day, here, which kinda informed my choices somewhat…

All Things…

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

The cuscuta which kills off
The tree that it grows on,
Spider-wasps and tapeworms—
The list goes on and on.

Well, I've posted hardly anything since moving into Dear Old Mater's house. Partly, it's the change of circumstances itself to blame; it's harder to sit for hours at the computer, while there's someone else in the house I feel something of a duty to socialise with. Also, my computer is now tucked away in the corner of my bedroom, rather than being in the main room—the whole experience of browsing, commenting and blogging feels different now, sort of awkward.

Another reason, though, has nothing to do with all that. Quite simply, every time, just lately, that I sit down to write something, or comment on a story, or whatever, I get the strange feeling that I've already said whatever it is I find myself saying. Change a few names, possibly even that of the religion in question, and one story of religious idiocy or bigotry is very much the same as another that I read, and possibly commented under, last week, last month or last year. Ditto for my own comments on the subject here, in the form of blog-posts. I've deleted any number of half-written posts over the last couple of weeks, after realising that I've said this before.

But a comment I received this evening, under my previous post, made me realise something. I may have said it before, but not every reader, or potential reader, especially from the theist side of the atheist/theist fence, has read it before. So thank you to commenter toGodbetheglory for making me realise that.

It doesn't matter who's died, or who's lost their home, no;
Any disaster's a chance to blame all the homos,
For bringing God's wrath down on innocent folks,
For the 'sin' of letting blokes love other blokes.

That god you describe, he seems quite a dastard.
Sod the politeness, he's an out-and-out bastard!
Thousands left homeless, dead, injured and maimed,
Just because Sarah loves someone named Jane.
